This Cabernet Sauvignon begins with a strikingly floral nose of violet, raspberry leaf, bay leaf and tobacco. Fruity hints of cherry, redcurrant and cassis sit solidly in the background. It is a benchmark example of Australian Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested from old vines.
The Henschke family are one of Australia's stalwart wine dynasties, with a history dating back to the 19th century. They are now in their sixth generation of wine-making, under the leadership of Johann Stephen Henschke. The fruits for this bold red wine were harvested from a north-facing vineyard, planted in 1988 by Johann’s parents, Stephen and Prue. Its name harks back even further, to Johann’s red wine loving grandfather, Cyril Henschke.
The Cyril Henschke Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep purple-red in the glass, steeped in fine, velvety tannins and fresh acidity. Classic notes of sour plum and liquorice interlace with rich vegetal notes of roasted pepper, green herbs and black olive. A mouthwatering finish reveals Cabernet hints of eucalyptus and mint. It has a strong frame, and will no doubt age magnificently. A perfect choice for those seeking an interesting alternative to premium French or Californian Cabernet Sauvignon. Consider pairing this wine with rich meaty dishes, such as herb-crusted lamb, beef stew or steak.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
