Located in Canada's Niagara wine region, Henry of Pelham is a six-generation family-owned winery founded in the late 18th century. In 1984, the company was completely renovated and modernized, with the replanting of new vines with international varieties for the production of high-quality wines. Thanks to these changes and the excellent wines produced, including ice wines, the company has managed to garner positive attention from both the public and critics on the international market. The company name honors the son of the current owners' great-great-great grandfather, who ironically nicknamed himself "Henry of Pelham" after a famous British prime minister.
The Vidal's grapes for this luscious sweet wine are selected and harvested late from the estate's vineyards located in Short Hills, and characterized by low yields. After fermentation, the wine is aged in stainless steel to preserve its freshness and aromatic character.
Henry of Pelham's Special Select Late Harvest Vidal is an elegant dessert wine with a bright golden color. The nose reveals aromas of orange blossom, citrus peel, ripe peaches, apricots, and lychees. On the palate, it is fresh and velvety, intense, and has a vibrant acidity that perfectly balances the sweetness. Pair it with blue cheese, or with a fruit-based dessert, such as an apricot and almond cake.
