Founded by Dennis and Judy Groth in 1982, this prime Napa estate has 121 acres right in the heart of the Oakville AVA. The Groth family soon knew they had made the right decision when their 1985 Cabernet became the very first US wine to be awarded 100-points by the legendary wine critic Robert Parker. Their wines became an overnight success and are still highly sought after by wine enthusiasts all over the world.
Just like that exceptional 1985 vintage Cab, this classic Cabernet is crafted from top quality estate-grown fruit sourced from vines that are now hitting their prime. Groth’s winemaker Cameron Parry ferments the fruit in stainless steel tanks and presses the grapes before the wine reaches full dryness to help add a distinctive sweet fruit character to the wine. He also adds a small amount of Merlot for a richer, smoother texture and greater intensity of fruit.
The final step is to age the young wine in 100% new French oak for 18 months which harmonises the blend and softens the tannins. The result is a plush, opulent style red with ample plum, cassis, and wild berry notes which linger on the tongue along with notes of spice, tobacco leaf, toast and dark chocolate from the oak ageing.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
