Founded in 1988 in South Australia, the Grant Burge winery (which bears the name of its founder) is located in the heart of the Barossa Valley and has been part of the Accolade Wines group since 2014. The company produces a large portfolio of different wines but focuses primarily on the typical varietals of the region, Shiraz, Mourvèdre, and Grenache. The vineyards that extend into the Barossa, on alluvial soils, are mainly planted with red varieties, while those located in the Eden Valley, on rocky schist soils, are dedicated to white varieties.

The Shiraz grapes come from the Filsell vineyard, one of the best in the Barossa Valley, planted in 1920. The fruits of this vineyard, with great intensity and concentration, are fermented separately in batches. The finished wine is then aged in a combination of French and American oak for 20 months.

Filsell Shiraz is a generous and intense wine with a deep red color and some purple hues. The aromatic profile is complex with notes of dark fruit and licorice, chocolate, and vanilla. On the palate, the wine shows a full-bodied structure and excellent concentration. The tannins are powerful yet ripe and the finish is long and slightly spicy. It is perfect with fillet or braised beef.
