Originally from Cornas, the talented winemaker Vincent Paris is considered one of the rising stars of Rhône Valley viticulture. His estate extends over 15 hectares of biodynamically cultivated vineyards, most of which were inherited from his grandfather and some purchased from his uncle, Robert Michel, iconic vigneron of Cornas. Among these, the most famous is the Geynale plot made up of old vines planted in 1910.
The wine is produced with 100% Syrah grapes, coming from hilly vineyards located near Cornas, in Ardoix, on soils of granitic origin. The winemaking practices take place over three weeks, and then the wine matures for three months in vats, and subsequently for nine months in barrels aged between 2 and 8 years.
Saint-Joseph by Vincent Paris is a characterful wine with an intense red color. Its aromatic profile is fragrant and elegant and reveals fruity notes of cherries, currants, and other ripe red fruits, followed by hints of pepper, wild herbs, and licorice. On the palate, it is juicy, lively, balanced and soft. It has a strong acidic streak, velvety tannins, and a medium body. The finish is long and fragrant. It pairs well with game, or pan seared steak, especially if served with herbs and black pepper.
