Founded in 1881, the Gramona family winery is located in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. After over 140 years of history in the production of sparkling and still wines, the winery is currently managed by the fifth generation which continues with the family tradition. In recent years Gramona has moved from organic to biodynamic agriculture, focusing on achieving the maximum balance of the vines with the surrounding environment, and creating wines of great character and uniqueness.
Gramona Celler Batlle is a sparkling wine made from Xarello (65%) and Maccabeu (35%) grapes from the Font de Jui vineyard, located at 350 meters above sea level. After being harvested manually, the grapes are selected and pressed. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle.
After aging in the cellar for 3 to 4 years, the wine shows a characteristic yellow color. The nose is intense and complex. There are hints of ripe fruit (peaches, golden apples, quince), citrus fruits, and flashes of aromatic herbs followed by notes of maturation (toasted bread crust, brioche, dried fruit, and vanilla). In the mouth, it reveals a perfect harmony between acidity, carbon dioxide, and alcohol content. It is creamy and leaves a velvety feeling of fullness on the palate. The finish is long with notes of fruit and minerals. Try it with white fish, lobster, or caviar!
