Founded in 1983 in the town of Katzrin, Israel, Golan Heights is an acclaimed winery producing premium wines under the watchful guidance of renowned winemaker Victor Schoenfeld, who has overseen the operations since 1992.
Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon is an award-winning red wine and probably the most popular Israeli Cabernet. The grapes are sourced from vineyards situated in the Golan Heights, in northern Israel. Here, altitudes ranging from 400 to 1,200 meters, soils rich in volcanic basalt, and cool nighttime temperatures ensure quality viticulture and the optimal expression of Cabernet. After harvesting and traditional fermentation, the finished wine ages for a year and a half in oak barrels. The result is a characterful, deep, and structured wine that reveals excellent aging potential.
In the glass, the wine shows a garnet color with purple highlights and an intense aromatic profile with notes of ripe red and dark fruits (especially cherry, currant, blackcurrant, and plum), followed by hints of tobacco, dried herbs, and earthy notes. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, intense, and concentrated. It is ripe and intense, with crisp acidity and smooth tannins. It is a balanced wine: its rich fruit complements its bold character perfectly. It is an elegant expression of Cabernet and pairs beautifully with pepper-sauced beef fillet or roast lamb shank with herbs.
