Located in the western part of the province of Barolo, in the locality of Vergne, the G.D Vajra winery has been led since the 1970s by Aldo Vaira, son of the founder Giovanni Domenico, and his wife Milena. The company vineyards extend over about 40 hectares, at an altitude between 350 and 480 m. above sea level, cultivated with attention to the vocation of every single terroir. 10 hectares of these are cultivated with Nebbiolo for Barolo wines, and are located in strategic crus such as Bricco delle Viole, Fossati, La Volta, and Coste di Vergne.
The Langhe Nebbiolo di Vajra is made with Nebbiolo grapes from young vines of about 10 to 25 years of age. The grapes are preferably harvested in the early hours of the morning to preserve aromatic purity. The maceration is long and extremely delicate, to guarantee varietal expression. Most of the aging takes place in stainless steel vats, and only a small part of the wine is aged in neutral oak barrels.
The aromatic profile reveals intense aromas of rose petals, violets, and small fresh fruits, typical of the Nebbiolo grape, followed by hints of lavender and mint. The palate is elegant and complex, with a good concentration of red fruits, and sweet spices with earthy and mineral undertones. The finish is fresh and persistent. Try it with Vitello Tonnato or game.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
