G.D. Vajra Barolo Bricco delle Viole 2020

Located in Piedmont, in the municipality of Barolo, the G.D. Vajra is managed by Aldo Vajra together with his wife Milena and his three children. The vineyards, which cover about 40 hectares, are located in an area that enjoys a mild microclimate, extremely favorable to Nebbiolo and the other Piedmontese grapes grown by the company. The soil is predominantly clayey allowing a successful sustainable agriculture philosophy made up of grassing and natural irrigation.

The Bricco delle Viole is one of the most refined crus of Barolo, located in the highest part of the municipality in the hamlet of Vergne. The wine comes from the company’s oldest vineyards and is the last to be harvested to obtain a remarkable aromatic texture and unique finesse.

In the glass, this Barolo reveals a bright ruby-red color. On the nose, the notes of brandied cherries blend perfectly with the aromas of violet and dried rose, with some pleasant balsamic and spicy hints in the background. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with silky soft tannins. It is an extremely elegant wine that can age beautifully for decades but can also be enjoyed now with red meat or game stews and aged cheeses.
