Founded in 1884 in Mendoza’s Godoy Cruz neighbourhood, Escorihuela Gascon is the oldest winery in Mendoza that is still in operation. As one of the first wineries to start producing 100% Malbec wines in the 1940s, the estate has played a key role in Mendoza’s history and remains one of Argentina’s most popular wineries.
Escorihuela Gascon’s vineyards are located in the Agrelo and Altamira sub-regions of Mendoza where the warm summers are moderated by cooling breezes from the nearby Andes Mountains and the high altitude. These unique conditions help ensure the grapes ripen slowly and preserves ample freshness and aromas in the fruit at harvest time.
This bottling is crafted from the Italian Sangiovese grape which thrives in these conditions and produces a wine of great elegance and complexity. On the nose there are hints of wild roses, ripe cherries and blackberries while the first sip reveals ample freshness and intense dark fruit flavours. On the palate there is a medium body, smooth tannins and long finish with spicy notes from the 8 months of barrel maturation. An excellent wine to enjoy with tomato-based dishes like fresh pasta with ragu or hunter’s chicken thanks to the vibrant freshness.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
