Bonarda is regarded as Argentina’s second national grape variety after the country’s now world-famous Malbec wines, but it is still little-known outside of Latin America. This stunning single vineyard example is the work of Alejandro Vigil, Catena Zapata’s chief winemaker, and historian Adrianna Catena who is the daughter of Nicolas Catena who helped put Argentina on the map for Malbec.
Alejandro and Adrianna joined forces to found their own wine label, El Enemigo, which aims to showcase a new side to Argentina’s winemaking potential inspired both by tradition and by breaking any unnecessary rules of how things should be done.
This particular cuvee is produced from a small 5 hectare plot of very old Bonarda vines which were rescued by Alejandro. The vines are planted on a sandy plot which sits at 650 metres above sea level in Rivadavia in the Mendoza wine region. The grapes are carefully selected at optimum ripeness to maintain quality and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The young wine is then aged in used French oak barrels for 15 months, adding delicate notes of toasty oak and spice to the vibrant dark berry, plum and cherry fruit flavours.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
