DuMOL Chloe Chardonnay 2013

This outstanding Russian River Chardonnay is an old vine cuvee from two of California’s finest historic plots, the Ritchie and Lorenzo vineyards. The majority of the fruit comes from the Ritchie vineyard which was planted in 1972 and tends to produce rich and multi-layered fruit flavours thanks to the low yielding old vines and mixed gravelly and sandy soils. The portion of fruit sourced from the Lorenzo vineyard comes from similarly aged vines with a slightly cooler microclimate that gives crisp freshness, bright citrus fruit and a distinctive minerality.

Once in the winery the fruit is barrel fermented and then matured in small oak barrels for 12 months. Before bottling and release the wine is left to settle in the tank for another six months. The result is a full-throttled Californian Chardonnay with ample stone fruit and floral notes perfectly balanced by a vibrant freshness.

Dumol was founded in 1996 in the south-western corner of the Russian River Valley as a premium terroir-focused producer of exceptionally cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In addition to their three prime estate vineyards, the winery works closely with their long-term partner growers to source fruit from many of the region’s top vineyards like the Lorenzo vineyard.
