Duckhorn was founded in 1976 when husband and wife Dan and Margaret Duckhorn bought Marlee’s Vineayrd in the Napa Valley. Today the estate is probably best known for its sensational Merlots which have helped to rehabilitate the variety’s reputation in the United States and beyond. In recent years they’ve begun applying this wealth of knowledge and expertise to Sonoma County via their Decoy range of wines.

This magnificent sparkling wine is testament to the versatility of Duckhorn’s winemaking prowess. It’s made using the traditional method, the exact same process used to make Champagne in France. Pinot Noir and oak-fermented Napa Valley Chardonnay are used as the base wines which are then fermented for a second time inside the bottle to create the delicate bubbles and enticing toasty notes from extended ageing on the lees.

Honeysuckle, orange blossom, and ripe peach dominate on the nose, while the first sip reveals a mouthwatering freshness, a smooth mousse, and an elegant finish wiht hints of vanilla and baked apple. It’s a great choice to serve as an aperitif or alongside fresh oysters, grilled fish, leafy salads, or spicy Asian dishes like Pad Thai or aromatic curries.
