This is a top-tier Riesling from the banks of the Danube, with an elegant bouquet of stone fruit - peach and plum, with hints of tropical fruit and delicate herbs. It originates from the legendary Singerriedel, a steep, terraced vineyard on the eastern end of the market town of Spitz. It is defined by silicate-rich soils and the powerful, mineral-loaded Riesling grapes that grow there.

Domäne Wachau is led by the Master of Wine Roman Horvath and Heinz Frischengruber, who work hand-in-hand with the vintner families who tend the Danube’s vineyards. They are the only estate that has a parcel in every renowned Wachau vineyard and have created a comprehensive range of wines, exploring every brilliant facet of the region.

The Singerriedel has a round yet firm palate, with bright acidity and a sharp, elegant edge of minerality. Look for ripe notes of peach, apricot and lemon, supported by smoke and herbaceous hints of sage. As a Smaragd-tier wine, this can easily age for two decades in a cellar, and possibly longer. It’s a wine with longevity, both in the bottle and the palate. The finish brings hints of flint and herbs. Drink this wine chilled, alongside traditional Austrian meat dishes, spicy curries, or asparagus.
