Domaines Ott has been making elegant Provencal rosés for over a century, with the fourth generation of the family still involved in the winemaking here to this day. The fruit for this bottling comes from Chateau Romassan in the Bandol appellation which was bought by the family in the 1950s. In total the property has 148 acres including striking terraced vineyards planted on stony marl and limestone soils.
The terroir here is ideal for premium winemaking thanks to the cooling sea breezes from the nearby bay of Bandol and sunny summer days. This helps to ensure plenty of rich fruit flavours and ripe tannins balanced by freshness and elegance. This particular cuvee is primarily composed of Mourvedre along with equal amounts of Cinsault and Grenache. The fruit is all harvested by hand to maintain quality, with fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks and ageing in oak casks for 6-8 months.
This maturation process adds extra polish and complexity to this elegant rosé, with delicate notes of spice and woodsmoke mingling on the nose with aromatic white peaches, bright citrus, and honeydew melon. On the palate there’s a fresh entry, smooth texture, and delicate finish with lingering notes of Provencal herbs and ripe wild berries.
