Members of the Humbrecht family have harvested grapes from the steep hills of Alsace for centuries. In 1959, their livelihood took a revolutionary turn, with the marriage of Léonard Humbrecht and Geneviève Zind. Domaine Zind-Humbrecht began to bottle and sell wines under their name for the first time, and have since become one of the most revered names in Alsace.
Nowadays the winery is under the leadership of Olivier Humbrecht, who is gradually guiding the winery into an era of organic farming. His family know the terroir of Alsace better than anybody, and the grapes that suit it best. They craft an incredible range of wines from Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, and of course, the delicious Riesling grape.
“Roche Calcaire” is sourced from several vineyards in the village of Gueberschwihr, which were planted by Léonard Humbrecht in the 1960s and 70s. The wine is pale gold, with a shy nose of tangerine, lemon peel and lime, slowly building into a full bouquet. Zesty lemon is a prominent flavour on the palate too. With its strong yet precise activity, this wine has a juiciness in the mouth that is supported by hints of flinty minerality. It will be fantastic paired with seafood, particularly sushi, or soft cheese such as Camembert.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
