This classic GSM blend from the southern Rhône makes a striking first impression with an intense pomegranate hue and seductive notes of cherry liqueur, rosemary and liquorice on the nose. Full-bodied with a touch of balancing acidity and refined tannins, the palate showcases earthy and herbal undertones along with piquant black pepper from the Syrah and ripe raspberries from the Grenache.

With a bigger personality and greater concentration of flavours than many Côtes du Rhône Villages wines, this old vine GSM will continue to develop gracefully and can be cellared at least up until 2024. To complement the wine’s subtle savoury and gamey character, try serving alongside pheasant, quail or partridge dishes or keep things simple with a juicy ribeye steak.

This family winery in the prestigious Chateauneuf du Pape appellation was founded in 1972 by Roger Perrin who began bottling and selling his own wines after taking over the estate from his father-in-law, Paul Bravay. Today the winery is in the capable hands of Roger’s daughter, enologist Veronique Perrin-Rolin, and her son Xavier. Despite its recent foundation, the domaine is blessed with several parcels which were planted in the early twentieth century and boast some vines which are over a century old. The Grenache grapes used to make this Cuvée Vieilles Vignes largely come from these centenarian vines.
