The Petit Castel is the second wine of Domaine du Castel and it is made in a classic Bordeaux-style from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec grapes sourced from the estate’s finest plots. Following vinification the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months and then matured in concrete tanks for an additional 4 months before bottling.
On the nose there are seductive hints of crushed dark berries, wild roses, and leather while the first sip reveals a rich full body, smooth tannins, and bright streak of acidity which will help the wine to age gracefully over the next five years or so. The excellent balance between ripe fruit flavours and firm structure make this a great wine to pair with food, especially red meat dishes like a fine steak, beef stew, or even game.
Domaine du Castel was founded in 1988 by Eli Ben Zaken who had emigrated to Israel from Milan and purchased a small farm near Jerusalem. He planted the first modern vineyard in the Judean Hills and received an incredibly positive response to his first wine, the Grand Vin, which he still produces in very limited quantities.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
