A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Located in the Côte de Nuits, Domaine Charles Audoin is a family-run winery founded in the 1970s, which has played a fundamental role in the success achieved by the wines of the Marsannay appellation. The estate, which extends over 14 hectares of vineyards, is today managed by Cyril Audoin, son of Charles, who continues his father's work by producing extremely elegant wines. Since 2018, the company has been certified organic.

    Domaine Charles Audoin's Marsannay Rosé is made with 100% Pinot Noir grapes. It is a round, fine, and fresh wine with a bright and clear color. Its aromatic profile is lively with notes of raspberry and citrus, fresh red berries, and fragrant rose petals. On the palate, it is thirst-quenching and fruity, with a strong acidic streak and a good structure. It is juicy and reveals a long finish with mineral notes.

    It is a wine ready to drink immediately, but it can also remain in the cellar for a few years. On the table it is very versatile: it pairs deliciously with cured meats, such as veal or pork, duck breast with orange, crabs, or delicate fish such as red mullet. It is perfect with vegetarian dishes of Mediterranean cuisine and with some slightly spicy oriental recipes.
