Derbusco Cives winery is located in the spiritual heart of Franciacorta, the comune of Erbusco. It is a young winery, founded in 2005, with the sole goal of creating the best Franciacorta sparkling wine in the world.

The five founders of Derbusco Cives are fans of wordplay. The name means “citizens of Erbusco”, but is also similar to the ancient Lombardy word “der busche”, meaning wood. However, most of the ageing with Doppio Erre is done in the bottle. These wines spend a minimum of 30 months ageing on yeast, delaying the final stage of disgorgement by an entire year, resulting in a beautifully dry and drinkable bottle.

Composed of 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Nero grapes, Doppio Erre pops with a bouquet of white fruits, white flowers, lime and liquorice. It is a vibrant yellow straw colour, with hints of gold and delicate perlage. The production method enhances the wine's creaminess, which engulfs the palate completely. Flavours of ripe fruit emerge, and it evolves into a long, slightly saline finish. It is best enjoyed well chilled, and paired with a light but decadent dish. Consider partnering Doppio Erre with oysters, fish, or some vegetable appetisers.
