De Martino Legado Reserva Chardonnay 2023

Founded in Chile in 1934, by Italian immigrant Pietro De Martino, the De Martino winery is today managed by Marco Antonio and Sebastián, the fourth generation of the family, along with winemaker Nicolás Pérez.

Chardonnay grapes are selected in the Santa Rita vineyard in the Limarí Valley of northern Chile. Here, the altitude of approximately 237 meters, the cool coastal climate, the excellent exposure, and the soils rich in clay and limestone guarantee ideal conditions for growing Chardonnay, allowing the grapes to develop their full aromatic potential and preserve their mineral character and freshness. After harvesting, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature with indigenous yeasts, and the finished wine ages in a mix of foudres and French oak barriques for approximately 10 months.

The result is a complex and balanced wine, a pure expression of the fruit and terroir. In the glass, the Legado Reserva Chardonnay reveals a straw-yellow color with greenish highlights and a fresh and lively aromatic profile with notes of green apple and citrus, followed by salty hints, on a background of brioche and toasted notes. On the palate, it is rounded and juicy with a medium body and crisp acidity. It is fresh and lively with a long, slightly saline finish. It is the ideal wine to pair with fish in creamy sauces, scampi and scallops.
