Located in the Valle de Uco, Argentina, the Cuvelier Los Andes winery was founded by the Cuvelier family, owners of several Bordeaux chateaux, including Chateau Leoville Poyferre. Cuvelier Los Andes is also a partner of the Clos de Los Siete company. The production style is similar to that of Bordeaux estates with manual viticulture, low yields and organic and biodynamic practices. The wines are aged in French oak barrels.
The wine is a blend of Malbec, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, coming from vineyards located at over a thousand meters altitude. After harvesting, the grapes undergo a cold maceration before alcoholic fermentation takes place. Aging takes place in French oak barrels for 12 months.
The Colleccion of Cuvelier Los Andes is a rich and round wine with an intense red color and violet reflections. The aromatic profile alternates scents of blackberries, and notes of plum, tobacco, and licorice, sweetened by a final touch of vanilla. On the palate, the wine is seductive, smooth and balanced, dense and elegant with a long and persistent finish of ripe dark fruit and silky tannins. Try it with a lamb tagine, or grilled duck breast.
