This exceptional red wine is only produced in the very best years with the Coronica family’s top quality Teran grapes which are harvested at optimal maturity. This helps to create a rich, well-balanced wine which should continue to evolve and develop over the next decade or so if cellared in good conditions.

The nose displays concentrated aromas of red cherries, plum jam and dried Mediterranean herbs which are joined on the palate by hints of smoky tobacco from the maturation in oak barrels and blackberries. The firm structure and well-rounded tannins are matched by a fresh acidity which gives elegance to the wine and makes it an excellent partner for pan-fried tuna steaks or a prime steak.

Moreno Coronica founded his Istrian winery in 1992, but his family’s deep roots in this part of Croatia are evident from the name of the nearby village of Koreniki which bears the old spelling of their surname. Moreno prefers to make his wines in a traditional style, allowing the characteristics of the indigenous grape varieties and Istria’s distinctive nutrient rich Terra Rossa terroir to express themselves in the bottle. This dedication to the craft of winemaking and Croatia’s viticultural traditions has quickly made him one of Istria’s leading winemakers.
