Typical Bordeaux grape varieties like Malbec, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc have been planted in the south-eastern corner of Moldova for several centuries. French settlers to the region noticed how similar the land was to their native Bordeaux and teamed up with the local monks to experiment with these French varieties. This tradition has been continued by Chateau Purcari which was founded here in 1827 following an imperial decree issued by Tsar Nicholas I.
The fruit for this handsome Merlot is carefully picked by hand to ensure perfect quality and then vinified according to traditional local winemaking techniques. Before bottling the young wine is aged in French oak barrels for 6 months Luscious blackberries, plums and hints of violets burst out of the glass while the first sip reveals a well-rounded medium body, firm tannins and a very smooth texture.
The easy-going flavour profile makes this wine a great option to share with family and friends over casual dinners, although it can also be kept in the cellar for a few more years. Although not yet well-known outside of its native Moldova, Chateau Purcari is a rising star on the European wine scene with a slew of medals won at the Decanter World Wine Awards in 2019 and 2020.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
