Located near the Gorges de Pennafort, twenty-five kilometers from Fréjus, on the Mediterranean coast, the Château d'Esclans is a prestigious French product widely known for its rosé wines. The first archives of the castle date from the time of the Gauls, it was then used as a surveillance point to control intruders who entered the Gulf of Fréjus by boat. The current castle, inspired by the design of the Tuscan Villas, was built in the middle of the 19th century.
The wine, created by winemaker Sacha Lichine, is produced from a blend of Grenache, Rolle, Syrah, and Cinsault coming from vineyards overlooking the Mediterranean. Thanks to the long hours of sunshine and the sea breeze, the Var region benefits from an extremely favorable climate which helps with aging and keeps the wines fresh. The harvest is overnight to preserve aromas and freshness, and the wine is aged in contact with its lees to give it greater consistency.
The wine’s name "The Pale" comes from its light color with copper-pink tones. Intense fruit aromas unfold in the nose. In addition to the inevitable red fruits, one can also perceive fresh apples, peaches, sweet melon, and pomelo. It has a medium body, pronounced acidity, and a fruity, light touch on the palate. It is dry, slightly mineral, and with good length. It works perfectly with starters, seafood, and as an aperitif. Serve it chilled.
