Charles Smith grew up in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains close to Sacramento. He traveled Europe for many years as a rock band manager and soon became inspired by the excellent wines he experienced on the road. He eventually decided to head back to the US with this new passion and set up his very own wine label using top quality fruit from Washington State.
Such is Smith’s dedication and commitment to the art of winemaking, he has been named Winemaker of the Year by Wine Enthusiast and Food & Wine magazines. In his first vintage in 1999 he made just 330 cases of Syrah, while today he crafts a wide range of wines from different grapes and is always experimenting with new cuvees and techniques.
This attractive Chardonnay is bursting with bright tropical fruit like lusciously ripe mango, passionfruit, lychee and pineapple. On the palate there’s a refreshing burst of acidity carefully balanced by a medium body and creamy texture. The long, complex finish with plenty of ripe fruit and subtle spiced notes makes this a great match for mature cheeses, creamy pasta dishes, lobster, or substantial salads.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
