This champagne begins with glistening, lively bubbles and a generous bouquet of lemon zest, green apple skin, herbs, and freshly toasted bread. These classic champagne aromas are underpinned by a strong minerality. The grapes were sourced from two terroirs within the Cǒtes des Blancs - Vindey, and Montgueux, which is famous for its chalky soil.
Michel Gonet is a celebrated champagne house in the heart of the Cǒtes des Blancs. The Gonet family have a deep history in the region, with their first endeavour, Gonet and Sons, dating back to 1802. In the 1970s, Michel left the family estate to begin his own champagne cellar, gradually expanding to famous regions such as Bordeaux, and becoming one of the most renowned wine-makers in France.
This is a “blanc de blancs” champagne, created from 100% Chardonnay. It has a wonderfully round, textural palate, with a tart and extremely dry character. Look for intense notes of orchard fruits, citrus, yeast, and minerals, with a long, crisp finish. It is a pure and elegant champagne, ideal for serving on any special occasion. Consider serving it as an aperitif, or alongside seafood.
