Listed as one of Decanter magazine’s top sparkling wines for 2016, this sophisticated Champagne is equally at home gracing the table of a special celebration dinner or simply being shared with good friends.

Evocative aromas of toast, honeysuckle and brioche aromas leap immediately out of the flute, while on the palate crisp red apple flavours blend harmoniously with complex, layered notes of cream, gingerbread and ripe blackcurrants. Plump and well-rounded, this Champagne is blessed with a refreshing acidity which creates harmonious balance in the mouth. This delicate equilibrium makes the Grande Reserve an ideal accompaniment to sweet and sour dishes or Moroccan tajines.

With a noble winemaking pedigree in the tiny Grand Cru village of Aÿ, the Gosset estate is the oldest wine producer of the Champagne region. As far back as 1584 there are records of the alderman of the town of Aÿ, Pierre Gosset, producing still wines from his own vines. It wasn’t until the 18th century that the family started to produce Champagnes after Benedictine monk Dom Perignon’s supposed discovery of the traditional method.

Today the Gosset house seeks to honour its noble winemaking pedigree with a philosophy that prioritises craftsmanship and quality over large-scale production. One example is Gosset’s bi-annual practice of transferring their bottles from one section of the cellar to another. This aids the evolution of the Champagnes by stimulating the yeast in the bottles and is done by just a handful of producers.
