This Brut Champagne begins with lively aromas of ripe orchard fruits, toasted nuts, honeysuckle and cream. It is composed of half Chardonnay and half Pinot Noir grapes, all harvested from the southern region of Côte des Bar. While the nose is dominated by typical Chardonnay scents, the palate reveals a complex Pinot Noir character.

Gilbert Leseurre is a third-generation wine-maker, with deep roots in the regions of Côte des Bar, Arrentières and Colombé-le-Sec. He began creating his own Champagne in 1979, and over the years he has expanded his domain to include 7 hectares of vineyards, spread across 17 different plots, in 4 separate communes. This diversity of terroir is what grants Gilbert’s wines their special, sensual character.

While it is a light golden colour in the glass, there is a distinct red grape character on the palate. Red apple, tart raspberry and citrus fruits mingle, along with hints of almond and buttery toasted bread. Prestige is an elegant wine with tenacious acidity and a sapid, dry mouthfeel. It should be enjoyed in its youth, alongside lobster or a chicken dish - either creamy or battered and deep-fried.
