The Goutorbe family has been growing grapes since the late 19th century, but its wines began to be marketed only in the early 20th century, thanks to Victor Goutorbe. The company was later developed by André Goutorbe, who created the current brand in the 1980s. Today, the estate is managed by David, André's son and the fifth generation of the family, who carries on the winery tradition with great respect and passion.
Champagne Andre Goutorbe Brut Tradition is a blend of equal parts of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay, with approximately 30% reserve wine added. The grapes come from the marly-limestone soils typical of the Marne Valley. After vinification in stainless steel, the second fermentation takes place in the bottle, and the wine ages on its lees for 2-3 years.
In the glass, the wine reveals a straw-yellow color with golden highlights, enhanced by a lively and elegant effervescence. The nose is fresh and fragrant with notes of stone fruit, Red Delicious apple, grapefruit and pomegranate peel, floral and almond notes on a chalky background. On the palate, it is soft, fresh, and mineral, with a creamy texture and a pleasant fruit concentration. It has a citrus acidity and light notes of small red fruits that extend into a long, persistent finish. It's excellent as an aperitif, but pairs beautifully with seafood, white fish, and sushi. A must-try with scallop risotto.
