Founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri, the Casanova di Neri winery is now managed by Giacomo Neri who took over the reins in 1991, together with his sons Giovanni and Gianlorenzo. The estate, which covers an area of approximately 500 hectares, of which 63 are planted with vineyards and 20 with olive groves, includes seven vineyards: Fiesole, Collalli, Podernuovo, Pietradonice, Cetine, Giovanni Neri and Cerretalto (which was the first to be purchased).
Brunello di Montalcino Giovanni Neri is a wine that recalls tradition, even in the name inspired by the founder of the cellar. The Sangiovese grapes are selected and harvested manually from approximately 50-year-old vines located in the southern part of the denomination and with favorable exposure.
The color is bright red. On the nose, the wine reveals intense aromas of blueberries, cherries, currants, and plums as well as balsamic notes. On the palate, it is lively, generous, and with a good structure, with fresh and well-balanced acidity. The tannins are fine and silky and the finish is persistent. It is a wine that can be enjoyed now, paired with game or red meat, or it can stay in the cellar for a few decades and evolve beautifully.
