Bolgheri is a quaint village with just over 100 residents, situated between the wild Tuscan coast and the foothills of Colline Metallifere. In 1998, this is where the Knauf family founded Campo alla Sughera, which has become a Tuscan winery of the highest order and a guardian of quality wine.

While Bolgheri is best known for its bold, Bordeaux-influenced reds, Campo alla Sughera also produce a coastal white called Arioso - which roughly translates to “airy” or “breezy”. That is a perfect descriptor for this crisp Vermentino. If you’re a lover of refreshing, seafood-friendly whites, this hidden gem is sure to charm you.

Arioso introduces itself with scents of citrus, succulent yellow fruit, and buttered toast. A melody of floral notes can also be found, adding an impression of delicacy. Bolgheri’s sunny climate and a touch of skin contact add some body to the palate, making this a surprisingly round white wine - comparable to an oaked Chardonnay or a Viognier. Look for flavours of peach, dried herbs, lemon peel, and a sapid hint of salinity. It’s an ideal pairing for seafood, particularly fish baked with herbs. However, it can also serve as an excellent appetiser, to get your mouth watering before any meal.
