Ca' Viola is situated in the small village of Dogliani in Langhe which is particularly known for growing spectacular Dolcetto grapes. Owner and winemaker Giuseppe "Beppe" Caviola first started producing wine in 1991 in his family’s garage after renting a vineyard nearby. Although for many years he has worked as a consultant winemaker for many of Piedmont’s most exciting producers, his own estate has flourished and in 2002 he was named "Enologist of the Year" by Gambero Rosso, Italy’s most important wine guide.

This bottling is made with fruit from the 70 year old Dolcetto vines planted in Giuseppe’s his prized 2.5 hectare Barturot vineyard. To give the wine its own unique personality and charm the grapes are fermented using wild yeasts and then matured in large oak casks for at least 14 months before bottling.

The deep ruby red hue is complemented by intense aromas of cherries, redcurrants, and hints of violets. The first sip reveals a vibrant freshness and rich dark fruit flavours along with a firm structure, medium body and long, clean finish. The ripe fruit flavours and bright flavour profile make this a good partner for cheeses, charcuterie and tomato-based pasta dishes.
