This seductive red blend opens with red cherry, cranberry and currant jam aromas which follow through onto the palate. The first sip reveals a big personality with a full body, smooth tannins and silky mouthfeel. Subtly sweet on the finish, the Bogle Essential Red is an ideal partner for rich tomato-based pasta dishes like rigatoni bolognese or a classic hamburger and fries.
Made with old vine Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Sirah grapes, this easy-going red is aged in American oak barrels for 12 months in the Bogle family cellars to add extra complexity and hints of toast and spicy cedar.
The Bogle family have been farming in Clarksburg in California for six generations with winemaking becoming an important part of the business some 50 years ago. The winery is currently in the hands of siblings, Warren, Jody, and Ryan, who are passionate about viticulture. The trio have a strong focus on sustainability with a view to eventually handing over the estate to the new generation. Now their growers meet the strict requirements of the California Rules for Sustainability and almost all of the grapes crushed at Bogle meet the demanding Certified Green standards.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
