Located in the beautiful Franschhoek Valley, Boekenhoutskloof Winery is a small winery originally founded in 1776 and then purchased and renovated in the early 1990s. The winery, which pays close attention to biodiversity, produces a wide variety of high-quality wines including Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Viognier, and Semillon.
Semillon grapes are sourced from 3 vineyards located in Franschhoek, planted respectively in the early 1902, 1936, and 1942 and considered the oldest South African Semillon vineyards. The alluvial soils with a high clay content and the low yields guarantee the production of high-quality wines with excellent longevity. After spontaneous fermentation in barriques and cement eggs, the finished wine rests for 14 months in a mix of barriques and cement barrels.
Boekenhoutskloof Semillon is a lively and fresh wine with a broad and delicate aromatic profile characterized by floral notes of jasmine, chamomile, and orange blossom, followed by hints of mandarin, and herbaceous nuances of nettle and oregano. On the palate, the wine reveals the same complexity of flavors and a dry and agile taste. It has a medium body, a soft acid component, and a pleasant mineral vein. It is mouth-watering and refreshing, lean and zippy. The finish is crisp, long, and delicately savory. Try it with fish soup, rabbit stew, or pan-fried quail.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
