In Galicia, in Spain’s most northwestern and windy corner, Rodrigo Méndez makes a variety of mould-breaking Spanish wines. This one is 100% Albarinho, with a multilayered nose of lemon peel, grapefruit, apricot, and salty sea spray. It was created as a tribute to Rodrigo’s grandmother and is one of the best quality Albarinhos out there right now.
Bodegas Forjas del Salnés was established in the 2000s in Rías Baixas. Although Rodrigo Méndez originally intended to focus solely on creating ethereal red wines, it was Raul Perez, a famous Spanish wine producer, who encouraged him to explore the distinctive Albarinho wines of the region. Forjas del Salnés sources its grapes from just 12 hectares of vineyards, spread across the villages of Meaño, Sanxenxo, and Barro, in a windswept, ocean-tinged terroir.
In the mouth, this wine is complex and filling. It shows notes of green apple, pear, lemon zest, and light spice, with undercurrents of minerality and cream. It was fermented on wild yeasts, followed by 3 years of ageing in a mixture of stainless steel and oak. Before release, it was aged for 3 more years in the bottle. This is a top-class Albarinho, with a hooked, tangy finish. Consider pairing it with seafood, lemon meringues, or creamy pasta.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
