Barbale is one of the emerging wineries in the Georgia wine scene. The winery, founded in 2016, produces organic grapes from vines in the sub-areas of Racha, Shida Kartli, Kvemo Kartli, and Kakheti, historic zones for the production of Georgian wines. The operations center is located in the village of Bolnisi, in the Kartli region, an area considered to be the cradle of the history of viticulture. Barbale uses both ancient Georgian traditional methods and more modern technologies for the production of its wines.

The Barbale Chinuri is made in limited quantities from 100% Chinuri grapes grown in the Shida Kartli area, around the medieval city of Ateni. The grapes are fermented in the traditional underground Qvevri terracotta pots, with their skins and stems.

The resulting wine shows a light golden color and a nose of delicious fruity notes of peach and melon followed by herbal aromas and candied orange peels. On the palate, it is balanced and mineral with a somehow earthy mouthfeel deriving from the terracotta pot method. The tannins are extremely delicate, and the acidity is light and perfectly integrated. The overall sensation is pleasant and refined. The wine is perfect with poultry and fish.
