Azelia is a Piedmontese winery founded over a century ago by the Scavino family and now run by the fifth generation. Located in Castiglione Falletto, the estate covers approximately 16 hectares of vineyards, planted primarily with Nebbiolo and cultivated with great care and respect for the terroir.
The Nebbiolo grapes come from the approximately 2.5-hectare Cerretta vineyard, planted on clay and limestone soil in the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba at approximately 355 meters above sea level. The 30-year-old vines are the product of a mass selection conducted by Luigi Scavino, together with his father Lorenzo, from the best plants in the Bricco Fiasco cru, and enjoy south-southwest exposure. Released for the first time in 2020, this wine celebrates the winery's centenary. After manual harvesting and spontaneous fermentation, the wine ages for 30 months in large barrels.
In the glass, Azelia Barolo Cerretta reveals a brilliant ruby-garnet color. Its aromatic profile is intense and layered with notes of black cherry, plum, and berries, hints of aromatic balsamic herbs, and mineral and smoky touches. On the palate, it is powerful and vigorous, elegant and full-bodied. It has firm, fine tannins. It is complex, concentrated, and distinctive, with a long, warm finish. Enjoy it with Porcini beef stew.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
