Artadi are best known for their exceptional and ageworthy Rioja wines which are coveted by collectors and wine enthusiasts around the world. In 2015 the winery embarked on a new project in the coastal town of Zarautz in the Basque country. Here they teamed up with experienced local winegrower Inaxio Manterola to work 9.26 acres of indigenous Hondarrabi Zuri and Beltza grapes which is used to make this sensational and unusual sparkling wine.
This region is best known for its crisp, fresh and lightly-fizzy Txakoli wines, and this new expression from Artadi interprets the traditional style into a more serious and ageworthy cuvee. The high acidity of the grapes is tamed by ageing the young wine in the bottle on the lees for two and a half years, and no dosage is added to maintain the bone dry flavour profile.
Citrus, green apples and subtle hints of white blossom define the nose while the first sip reveals a vivacious acidity, light body and crisp flavours of orchard fruits and sweet pastries ending in a very pure, clean finish. A great wine to serve as an unusual aperitif or to accompany fresh seafood, grilled fish or light appetizers.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
