The Lopez family who own A Coroa have played a key role in the resurgence of Godello in its native Valdeorras in north-western Spain where it has been grown since Roman times. For many years they owned a vine nursery, supplying the region’s local winemakers with new vines as the ancient variety slowly gained popularity. In 2002 Angel Lopez decided to start making his own Godello wines and the family now have 10 hectares of vineyards on A Rua’s steep hillsides.
This magnificent single vineyard Godello is sourced from vines planted in 1940 on top quality granitic soils which are farmed organically and harvested by hand in small baskets. This is where the wine gets its name from since 200 baskets or cestos are needed to harvest this vineyard each year. In the winery the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks and then matured on the lees for 9 months in old large oak casks to add extra complexity and body.
The result is a creamy yet refreshing white with plenty of bright tropical and citrus fruit notes balanced by hints of brioche and toasted nuts. The rich flavour profile makes this a fantastic partner for cheeses, roasted chicken or creamy risottos.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
