The winery itself was founded in 1889 by Jean-Baptiste Laherte and today is in the hands of the seventh generation of the family, represented by winemaker Aurélien. In total the Lahertes have 9 hectares of vines which are distributed across 70 different parcels, giving Aurélien plenty of freedom to craft unique cuvees which capture the character of the local terroir.

The family’s vineyards are primarily planted with Pinot Meunier which attains a special beauty in the area around Épernay and Chavot where the winery is based. Wherever possible the family insists on working their land in harmony with nature, and many of the plots are farmed biodynamically to help preserve them for future generations.
