Lodano Rosso is an intriguing red blend, bursting with notes of blackberry, cherry, pepper, and striking nuances of cloves and black olives. It is composed of 60% Petit Verdot and 40% Merlot, grown on clayish soils in the Alta Maremma region of Tuscany.

It is a product of Tua Rita, a Tuscan winery founded by husband and wife duo, Rita and Virgil, in 1984. Despite making some serious red wines, they all carry a certain fresh, easy character, thanks to the vineyard's proximity to Italy’s breezy western coast. Tua Rita owns 60 hectares of vineyards in all, spread across a strip of land between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the rolling, mineral-rich Colline Metallifere.

The wine is lively and full-bodied in the mouth, with complex notes of cherry, blackberry, raspberry, clove and black pepper. It has a powerful structure, with velvety tannins and bright acidity. Earthy, round notes of leather and chocolate come through on the finish, adding a savoury touch. The fruits were aged for 18 months in barrels of French and American oak, outlining each bottle with a tannic, oaky structure. Best served at room temperature, with rich cuts of game, spicy sausages or a beef stew.
