Located in the province of Vercelli, in the Gattinara DOCG area, the Travaglini family-run winery extends over 59 hectares, of which 44 are planted with vines, with plants aged between 6 and 45 years. Here the vineyards, mainly cultivated with Nebbiolo grapes, can enjoy a particular soil with a rocky conformation, rich in granites, porphyries, and iron which guarantees wines with a unique aromatic character and marked minerality. The winery was founded in 1958 by Arturo Travaglini and is today managed by Cinzia, Arturo's niece, and her husband Massimo, who carefully carry on the family tradition and produce wines of great personality.
Gattinara TreVigne is made with Nebbiolo grapes selected from the three vineyards Lurghe, Permolone, and Alice. After vinification, the wine rests in oak barrels for 4 years.
The wine has an intense color with ruby tones and some reflections that tend towards garnet. Its aromatic profile is complex and broad with fruity and floral notes, followed by licorice, cloves, and some balsamic hints. On the palate, it is elegant, concentrated, and full-bodied. It has a firm, well-integrated tannic backbone, and a long, persistent finish. It is a wine with a great personality and well balanced, that pairs deliciously with roast meat.
A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!
