Located in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, Ca di Press is a Piedmontese winery founded by the Prassenda family in the early 1900s and dedicated to selling grapes and bulk wine for over a century. The story changed in 2018 when Alice and Cristina Pressenda decided, together with their parents, to begin bottling their own wine. The first labels were released in 2022.
The Nebbiolo grapes for this Barolo come exclusively from the Perno subzone, at approximately 500 meters above sea level. After harvesting, fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, and the finished wine then ages for 20 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.
The result is a characterful wine with an intense ruby color and garnet highlights. On the nose, Ca di Press Barolo Perno reveals a complex and broad aromatic profile with notes of dried violets and red fruits (especially cherry and plum), interspersed with spicy and mineral notes on a tobacco background. On the palate, it is rich, balanced, and warm, with a well-defined structure and firm, well-integrated tannins. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent. It is the ideal wine for red meat or game stews, but also pairs well with aged cheeses.
