The Fundamental Chardonnay is brimming with scents of orchard fruits, lemon zest, butterscotch, and a host of tropical fruits. All of the Chardonnay grapes were harvested from within Santa Barbara, making it a Central Coast AVA wine, and a classic, sun-baked taste of California.
Tensley Wines is a family-owned and operated winery in Los Olivos, Santa Barbara County. It was founded in 1998 as a small boutique winery and has grown fifty-fold over the last few years, becoming one of the finest terroir-driven wineries in California. Fundamental is Joey and Jennifer Tensley’s “value” range, and although they are extremely affordable, the word “value” does not do this high-quality range justice.
While the nose is elegant and notably Old World in character, a certain New World sunniness seeps through to the palate. It is packed with flavours of ripe lemon, pear, and juicy green apple. It has a pure and fresh character overall, coupled with a round and creamy mouthfeel. The finish is long, with a pinch of savoury herbs. The Fundamental Chardonnay is perfect for pairing with a variety of dishes, from creamy pasta sauce to herby roast chicken.
