Founded in the late 1980s by cousins Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith, Shaw and Smith is located in the Adelaide Hills, in one of South Australia's most renowned wine-growing areas. The company owns approximately 55 hectares of vineyards where it grows varieties suitable for the cool climate such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Shiraz.
The Pinot Noir grapes are sourced mainly from the Lenswood vineyard located at approximately 450-500 meters above sea level and planted in 1999 with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Here the vines enjoy an undulating terrain with exposure to the east and west and clayey soils. The harvest is manual and fermentation is partly made with whole bunches. The finished wine matures in French oak.
The Shaw and Smith Pinot Noir is an elegant and expressive wine with a complex and fragrant aromatic profile characterized by notes of red and dark fruits, floral hints, hoisin, and then dried herbs, leather, and cedar. On the palate, it is concentrated and full-bodied with velvety and well-integrated tannins and bright acidity. The finish is long and deep and recalls gamey aromas. Excellent with duck or lamb with herbs.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
