Riesling
Schuster Riesling Diebstein 2017
Drink now through to 2024. Serve chilled.
The Schuster family have been making wine in Austria since 1772 and today the family focuses on traditional local varieties like Gruner Veltliner, Riesling, and the rarer Roter Veltliner. The estate is headed up by Karl and Helga Schuster who are assisted by their two children, Thomas and Birgit, who are preparing to be the next generation of talented Schuster winemakers.
This long family legacy of viticulture has given the Schusters a heightened awareness of their connection to the natural world and they seek to work in harmony with nature. Their grapes are harvested by hand so they arrive in optimum condition at the winery. Grapes destined for the Diebstein Riesling are macerated for 12 hours and then fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.
Classic Riesling notes of crisp lemon, ripe peaches and apricots, and white flowers define the nose, while the palate offers a brilliantly pure freshness, a light body, and rich stone fruit flavours with a very clean finish. This finely chiseled wine is ideal for drinking alongside fresh seafood, sushi or pan-fried salmon or trout fillets. It also makes a fantastic partner for spicy dishes like Thai curries thanks to the refreshing acidity.
