Located in Serralunga d'Alba, the Schiavenza winery was founded in the mid-1950s by Ugo and Vittorio Alessandria and is now considered one of the historic companies in the Langhe. Today the estate, which extends over approximately 8 hectares, also includes vineyards in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba. Schiavenza cultivates, in addition to Nebbiolo, two other indigenous varieties such as Dolcetto and Barbera.
Barolo Broglio Riserva is made only in the best years and exclusively with Nebbiolo grapes harvested late by hand from the prestigious Broglio Cru, located in the Serralunga area. After a traditional vinification, the finished wine rests in large barrels for 4 years and then in the bottle for another 2 years.
After this long aging, the result is a deep and complex red wine with a bright garnet color and an elegant and intense aromatic profile. On the nose, it reveals aromas of undergrowth and spices, as well as some hints of licorice and leather. On the palate, it is powerful and full of character, with a full body and firm and ripe tannins. The finish is long and persistent and recalls hints of fruit and spices. It is excellent with game and Piedmontese braised meat.
