Located on the beautiful Greek island of Kefalonia, Sarris winery was founded by Panos Sarris, who in 2011, after years of experience as a sommelier in London and then as a restaurateur on one of the island's most iconic beaches, took over the family vineyards. The small company, today produces high-quality wines awarded in international competitions and has focused the spotlight on the wine production of the island of Kefalonia.
The wine is made from Tsaoussi, a rather rare native vine, with great potential. The grapes are harvested from 50-year-old ungrafted plants located in the southern part of the island on clayey soil. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and the wine is then macerated on the skins for about two weeks. Production is limited to around 1000 bottles.
Sarris Lygia is an orange wine of great character that well expresses Panos Sarris' passion for local grapes and natural vinification. Its color is orange of medium intensity with bright reflections. The aromatic profile is intense and seductive with notes of quince, ripe peach, orange, dried apricot, orange peel, kumquat, and dried fruit, followed by light floral and herbaceous hints. On the palate, it is fresh and lively with a medium body. The tannins are delicate and well-integrated, and the acidity is fine and refreshing. On the finish, it reveals a persistent aftertaste with toasted notes. Try it with lamb Tagine.
