Cabernet Franc
Riglos Gran Cabernet Franc 2017
Drink now through to 2032. No need to decant before serving.
Riglos is a firm favourite of sommeliers and wine critics thanks to their commitment to excellence and inspired winemaking style. The winery was founded by Darío Werthein and Fabián Suffernwho who chose the winery’s name as a tribute to the place where their families first arrived in Argentina many years ago. Their vineyards are situated in the sub-region of Gualtallary in Mendoza on the Finca Las Divas estate at 1350 metres above sea level.
This high altitude provides ideal conditions for top quality winemaking thanks to the large temperature difference between night and day and intense sunlight. These climatic factors help to produce luscious, concentrated grapes with plenty of freshness and elegance. In the winery the young wine is aged in French barrels and casks for 18 months prior to bottling.
The result is a magnificent red with punchy dark fruit flavours balanced by a bright streak of acidity. On the palate there are firm tannins, a generous full body and a very long finish seasoned with hints of toasted oak, dried herbs and dark chocolate. The bold personality of this wine makes it a fine match for red meats and it can also be cellared for another decade or so if desired.
